Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Manual lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) is a gentle massage that stimulates the lymphatic system to remove toxins and excess fluid. It uses light, rhythmic movements along lymphatic pathways towards the lymph nodes.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is for anyone with swelling (Lymphedema, post-surgery, injury), those seeking immune support, detoxification, or relief from chronic conditions like fibromyalgia, and even for general wellness, sports recovery, or during pregnancy to reduce puffiness and boost energy. It helps move fluid, remove waste, and support immune function, benefiting people with compromised lymphatic systems or those just looking to feel lighter and less bloated.

Benefits:

  • Lymphedema/Edema: Reduces swelling after surgery (like cancer treatment), injury, or from chronic conditions.
  • Post-Surgery/Injury: Helps speed healing, reduce fluid buildup, and decrease bruising after operations or trauma.
  • Chronic Illnesses: Beneficial for fibromyalgia, chronic venous insufficiency, and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Immune Support: Boosts the immune system by moving lymph fluid, which carries white blood cells.
  • Detox and Bloating: Helps flush toxins and reduce water retention, puffiness and cellulite.
  • Sports Recovery: Aids in removing metabolic waste from muscles, reducing soreness and improving mobility.
  • Pregnancy and Postnatal: Eases fluid retention , swollen feet, and supports the body during and after childbirth.
  • Stress and Relaxation: Promotes relaxation and reduces muscle tension by removing waste products, leading to better sleep.

Facial Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Facial lymphatic drainage massage (FLD) stimulates the movement of lymph fluids using a gentle, specialised technique.

It is ideal for post procedure care minimising inflammation, accelerating the natural healing process whilst reducing swelling and bruising after cosmetic procedures, surgery or injuries.

The massage drains toxins, boosts circulation, reduces puffiness and promotes a sculpted look. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated helping to reduce stress and tension in the neck and face. The skin becomes refreshed and rejuvenated.

Benefits:

  • Reduced Puffiness and Edema: Immediately diminishes swelling around the eyes, cheeks and jawline.
  • Improved Skin Tone and Glow: Boosts circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients for a more radiant skin.
  • Sculpted Contours: Enhances definition of the cheekbones and jawline.
  • Detoxification and Reduced Acne: Assists in flushing out toxins and reducing acne and oily skin symptoms.
  • Relaxation and Tension Relief: Relieves facial muscle tightness and calms the nervous system.
  • Alleviates Nasal Congestion: Stimulating the lymphatic system promotes the drainage of excess fluid and mucus, reducing inflammation and pressure in the sinuses.
  • Reduces Dark Eye Circles, Facial Wrinkles and signs of Fatigue: The technique boosts micro-circulation and increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
  • Post surgery/Injury: Following surgery or trauma to the face the natural drainage pathways can become overwhelmed or damaged causing swelling, pain and bruising - Facial lymphatic drainage guides stagnant fluid away from the surgical site towards lymph nodes for elimination, it improves circulation to the injured tissue accelerating healing and recovery time.  As excess fluid is removed pain and discomfort is reduced in the healing, tender areas.

Pre-and Post Surgery Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Pre-and Post Surgery Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Pre-and Post Surgery Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD) is often recommended by surgeons pre-and post operations including cosmetic, orthodontic, orthopaedic and breast surgery .  The treatment can increase your recovery time and healing.

Before you have a surgical procedure it is beneficial to have 1 - 2 MLD sessions prior to surgery to help prepare the body by reducing existing fluid build up, accelerating detoxification and calming the nervous system.  By boosting the immune system this will also help improve recovery and healing time, decreasing post-op complications and can minimise bruising and scarring.

After surgery MLD is recommended by surgeons to accelerate healing , minimise severe swelling and reduce pain. Treatment  can be as soon as a day after surgery, depending on your procedure, though generally 3-5 days post-op.  Starting with 2-3 sessions in the first week, reducing frequency as healing progresses.  It is essential to have clearance from your surgeon.

Benefits - post surgery:

  • Reduces swelling , inflammation and bruising
  • Speeds up recovery time
  • Prevents fluid build up (seromas)
  • Improves circulation, lymph flow and detoxification
  • Minimises discomfort and calms the nervous system
  • Prevents and reduces fibrosis/scar tissue
  • Supports skin health
  • Helps maintain results of cosmetic surgery, supporting the outcomes and ensuring body contours remain smooth and even
